Julie White

Julie White (BFA, MFA) is an Associate Professor at the University of Southern Mississippi and Director of Dance Education. Her research, invited presentations, and publications center on effective teaching practices, curriculum development, and assessment. White is a dedicated advocate for the importance of movement in learning and the essential inclusion of standards-based, rigorous, and artful instruction (discipline specific and interdisciplinary) in education. She completes dance and education residencies throughout the Gulf South and is Co-Founder and Education Director for the annual Mississippi Dance Festival. In 2013, White received USM’s Teacher of the Year Award and the state arts organization’s Excellence in Higher Education Award.
